Ph. D. Dissertation

Constrained multiobjective optimization problems (CMOPs) arise in many real-world applications, and are thus gaining a growing interest. The advantages of solving multiobjective optimization problems (MOPs) by multiobjective evolutionary algorithms (MOEAs) have also attracted much attention. One of the basic strategies for fitness assignment in MOEAs is decomposition (i.e., the use of multiple aggregation functions). Multiobjective evolutionary algorithm based on decomposition (MOEA/D) is a recently developed evolutionary algorithmic framework. It has produced competitive results for most of the existing discrete and continuous benchmark multi-objective test suits. However, this promising algorithm is rarely tested on continuous CMOPs. This thesis modifies the update and replacement scheme in the MOEA/D framework to solve CMOPs.
