Welcome to the Department of Environmental Sciences. We consist of a diverse group of researchers and educators that come together around training students, and conducting fundamental and applied research to solve environmental problems associated with climate change, environmental impacts of pollution, responsible extraction of earth resources, human engineering of earth processes (Ecotourism), renewable energy, sustainable agriculture, and natural resources, and public health. Our combination of biological, physical, and social sciences makes the department a unique platform to find effective solutions of the environmental challenges. Furthermore, our up-to-date interdisciplinary academic program offers both science and policy training through standard classroom teaching, field courses, internships, and independent study. Our graduates provide services in diverse fields ranging from public policy to environmental sciences, as future environmental managers and problem solvers.
