Department of Botany

The foundation of Department of Botany was laid down in 2005 with the beginning of M.Phil and Ph.D level courses syllabus for M.Sc was also approved in the same year. Presently the department consists of one professor, two assistant professors, and nine lecturers and offers BS Hons, MSc, M.Phil and PhD programs.

Department of Botany has well furnished labs according to the present needs and expertise and offers research in different fields i.e. Plant Physiology, Taxonomy, Ecology, Ethnobotany, Biotechnology, Microbiology, Ethnomedicinal studies and medicinal plants. The main objective of the department is to establish centre of excellence in the field of Biological Sciences, that can primarily focus on the regional flora particularly on medicinal flora and to produce graduates with both capacity and capability to conduct research in all the fields of Botany which can results in maximum and sustainable exploitation of the plant resources of the area.

The vision of the department is to stand amongst one of the best department of Botany in Pakistan. We aim to achieve this through high quality education and research relevant to local, regional and national needs, by collaboration with leading researchers and educators both on national and international level.

Mission Statement:

The department of Botany is committed to produce high standard graduates of BS, M.Sc, M.Phil, and Ph.D level with the capacity and capability to conduct research in different areas of botany such as Plant Physiology, Taxonomy, Genetics, Cytology, Medicinal Plants etc.

We are maintaining high level of integrity and responsibility at individual and departmental level and producing well trained manpower to participate in the development of country and nation.
