credit system

Written by Administrator on 28 June 2012.

Every credited course offered at KUST is referred to in terms of Credit Hours (CH). The credit hours assigned to a theory course or a laboratory course are determined by the class hours allocated to it per week throughout a regular semester. One class hour is of fifty minutes. For a theory course, one credit hour is equivalent to one class hour of lecture per week, and for a laboratory course, three class hours per week of laboratory work are equivalent to one credit hour. No credits are assigned to the tutorial sessions that are held by certain departments on basis of students need and availability of resources. A 3CH, for example, in a regular semester of 16 teaching weeks will have 48 lecture hours of 50 minutes each or 32 lecture hours of 75 minutes each.
